Introduction/Checkout to Woodshop – Members Only
Required Checkout/Introduction to the Woodshop at Bergen Fellesverksted for all members that want to use the woodshop.
This introduction is divided into 2 parts:
– BFV woodshop systems, workflow and HMS. ~40 minutes
This first part is mandatory for everyone using the woodshop, regardless of level or being an existing member at BFV.
– Tools and equipment. ~1hr 50 mins.
The second part is either a quick checkout to acknowledge that the user knows how to operate our tools, or the user can stay and learn the setup and use of the tools.
If powertools and woodshops are new to you, this is a course to learn the basics and be safe using the equipment.
You will have the opportunity to use a variety of tools such as:
- Dust collection tools
- Mitre Saw
- Drill Press
- Band Saw (small)
- Hand Router
- Table Router
- Circular Saw
- Circular Track Saw
- Belt Sanders
- Spindle Belt Sander
- Jig/reciprocating/multipurpose saws
- Nail gun and compressor
- Drills
If you are an experienced woodworker, you may attend the HMS part and skip the practical part. We still recommend everyone to go through the whole introduction, as each tool and setup is unique to each workshop.
We run this introduction so all users of the woodshop have gotten the relevant information on workflow, HMS, systems, waste disposal and responsibility. It is a necessary precaution in an open and shared workspace.
Lack of having been approved through this checkout means the user is not allowed to use the woodshop.
Likewise, lack of knowledge of this introduction will not be an excuse to use the woodshop, as it is being clearly informed to existing and new members.
