Introduksjonkurs til Metalverkstedet – Members Only

Required Checkout/Introduction to the metal workshop at Bergen Fellesverksted for all members that want to use the machine park at the metalshop. Members who have not completed this course may only use the tools and equipment by the small bench within the marked line.

This introduction is divided into 2 parts:
– BFV metal shop rules, routines, workflow and HMS.

– Tools, equipment and some basic techniques:

• Angle grinders
• Belt sander
• Standing drill press (arboga)
• Metal bandsaws (reciprocating and continuous)
• Sandblaster

The course focuses on the safe and correct use of the machines in the metal workshop and learning skills relevant to metal working.

Preparations:

Participant must wear non synthetic non flammable clothes and shoes. Preferably clothes you don’t care to much about.
Participants must bring their own safety glasses and hearing protection.

Equipment not included in this introduction, which requires advanced or specific courses:

• Welding machines (a separate course for these will be launched in the beginning of 2026.)
• Sheet metal bender and cutter
